Your Body’s Innate Intelligence
While chiropractic care isn’t really a treatment for PMS (or any other condition), many women with misalignments have seen an improvement in their reproductive health while under chiropractic care. Because you are allowing the nervous system to work the way it’s supposed to by removing the stresses that were impeding certain nerves and thus certain organs.

Studies in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research found that Chiropractic had positive results regardless of the woman’s age, number of years she may have been infertile, previous medical intervention or health history including blocked fallopian tubes, miscarriages, amenorrhea (absence of a period), or colitis.

Spinal realignment can also help in treating other conditions that are related to reproductive health. If you are going through hormonal changes and tackling menopausal symptoms including hot flashes, depression, headaches, irritability, back and joint pain and fatigue, chances are you can also benefit from chiropractic adjustment.

Chiropractors Can Help Treat The Cause
Studies have been done to monitor women who suffer from infertility. Turns out, all of the women in these studies were found to have vertebral subluxations that were essentially blocking off nerve supply to their female reproductive systems. All subluxations are caused by stress, in its many forms. The stress profiles of the infertile women included – previous motor vehicle accidents, childhood falls, blocked fallopian tubes, Scoliosis, and high stress levels dues to their work. To their own delight, all of the women became pregnant after their subluxations were identified and corrected.

It is often said that women hold stress in their wombs, and being that the womb is located in the lumbar region…again, it’s all related.

According to the American Chiropractic Association, chiropractic is “a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.” The word chiropractic comes from the Greek words chiro meaning hand and praktikós meaning concerned with, or done by. Chiropractic adjustments are generally given to reduce the pressure on a nerve from a bone being out of place (imagine a water hose with with a kink in it, not allowing water to flow through properly or freely).

Now we have to round out today’s post by talking about the issue of NSAIDs, a.k.a. non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Aspirin, Advil, Motrin which are typically the first thing we grab to lessen the pain caused by our monthly miseries. And although they do provide temporary relief, long-term use can cause gastrointestinal problems like bleeding or gastric ulcers. So you end up trading one health headache for another, more damaging one.

NSAIDs increase in the chances of heart attack too, which is one of the main causes of death in the United States. So paying an inquisitive visit to a well-trained chiropractor can be one alternative treatment to pill-popping worth considering which not only allows for natural healing but doesn’t produce any harmful side effects either. A good chiropractor will first take detail x-rays of your spine before beginning or recommending any treatment program so that you both know precisely the current condition of your spine and precisely where any subluxations exist, if you indeed have them.

Be Well.
