[VIDEO] Best Tampon Commercial Parody

Although I’m a big fan of the menstrual cup and encourage its use over tampons for all the reasons listed in this post, I came across this hilarious tampon video by Kotex. I love the fact that they are adding some humor to the issue of menstruation by pointing out the ridiculous comparisons that have gone down in feminine hygiene advertising history.
Finally, someone blew the whistle and introduced a bit of “give me a break” to the advertising world and refused to insult our intelligence any longer. And even though (rumor has it) the major tv networks didn’t give Kotex their props and refused to air the ad, Kotex gets a gold star from me just for trying.
One thing that struck me though…going to Kotex’s promotional link for this new line of products strikes me as a bit odd. The page design is engaging and energetic. One of their feature taglines talks about how the packaging looks like “something out of art school. Cool” which kinda reminds me of when the tobacco industry used to use animated characters (remember the “cool camel”) to promote their cigarettes. Again, who are we fooling here?
